06-18.5-2010: what day is it?

Well, I meant to post this in the dailies yesterday morning... Or this morning if younconsider that it's 2:30.. I mean 1:30 ish considering the time zone change we drove through...

This is the intended post for jess's graduation day.. I sent it via email and then lost Internet and could not move it to my daily gallery... Oh well.. So, we've been driving since.. I'm not sure.. We drove from parries island to Biloxi and just made it in... Wanted to finish up the unfinished before turning in... Be back in a few hours to catch up for real.

$06-16-2010: a beach in biloxi Uploading from iPad again... I even edited this shot on the darn thing... So, if it's not up to par, I apologize. We are getting ready to headbout for a full day ofndriving, so I'm sneaking this one in... I will try to get in a few comments throughout the day, as well... Heard from the marines yesterday.. Jessica is still going to graduate on time, YAY! She fractured her hand during the crucible.. Whatever that is.. Does not sound like a day at the spa..so rather than continuing to combat training after her 10 day leave, she has to go back to parris island for recuperation time... We don't know what she will be doing during all that down time.. Approximateley 4 more weeks once she gets back..hoping they will give her something useful to do. Then I got to talk to her, briefly...she sounded very reserve..and she broke the news that she was not going to get to march at graduation. :(. I stayed positive while on the phone.. But I am so very disappointed for her.. She worked through the toughest part with a broken hand... I get it, but know that she has got to be devastated.. She was worried that I was going to be upset...I'm so proud of her I could just about burst.. I apologize for the loooong commentary, but wanted to share this with you all.. Have a delightful day... It's hot down here in the south...$

06-15-2010: traveling hat...

well, i'm off in about 15 minutes.. driving from texas to south carolina.. to see jessica graduate from boot camp... i'm so excited i didn't sleep much last night...

thank you all for your well wishes over the past few months .. you've been there from the beginning... when i got a form letter... that's when i dropped off from smugmug in april.. coincidental, really... april is one of our busy seasons at work.. gearing up for state exams..

anyway, i saw this hat at target yesterday, while picking up last minute items for the trip, and thought.. hey, that looks like a great traveling hat... for those times when your hair freaks out.. well my hair is always freaking out... but, i thought it was neat, so i picked it up, as well...

posting and commenting may be sporadic, but i know you all understand that..

have a fabulous tuesday!!! (yes, i did miss yesterday.. got off and running and completely forgot to post)

06-13-2010: fuzzy flowers..

another lensbaby soft focus shot.. so not like me. i'm used to holding my breath just to be still enough to get a focused shot.. and with this.. i focus, click... okay i do hold my breath out of habit... and done..

so many things to do today.. getting ready to drive to south carolina... i'm so excited to get to see jessica...

06-12-2010: tick tick tick tick tock

and these are only a few of the alarm clocks that sit on my husband's bedside table..

playing with a soft focus optic on the lensbaby last night.. and this is what i got.. funny thing, i got more than i expected.. natural sepia tones... no special tricks with the color on this one... hmmm? poor lighting and goldish yellow walls, i'm guessing... but, i liked it enough to keep..

thanks so much for all the wonderful comments on yesterday's building front.. it sits on one of those lots where the streets criss-cross rather than cross perpendicularly.. and the building is triangular more than rectangular..

anyway... it's SATURDAY.. going to get my hair fixed... can't go see jess with a head full of mess.. okay, well my hair's a mess no matter what i do... less mess is what i'm going for.

Update: lgood commented about no tinkering with the photo.. I did add a bit of vignetting, just didn't alter the contrast or change the colors... I'm not quite THAT good... ;)

just out of view is a door with a glass panel.. and etched on the glass panel are the words "cottonwood trading company"... a building near the alamo in san antonio, texas..

06-10-2010: another weed...

i have no idea what this is... but there is a lot of it... and i have no idea what i did to make the background look like that.. purely accidental.. so, today is i dunno thursday...

thank you all so very much for your kind comments on the watch from yesterday... it does feel nice to be validated.. so, i don't walk around feeling like a doofus..

.. and.. apologies for not getting around to many of the galleries for the past two evenings... headache and work.. work and headache.. do you think there might be a connection???

and another thing.. i'm gearing up to go see jessica graduate... next week, my mom and i are driving to south carolina... i'm sooo excited!

o6-09-2010: ...focus...

ok... here's what i was going for... i wanted to ensure that the bit through the "head" of the winding key was in focus while the other parts, at least in appearance, were not... i don't usually spill my interpretation or my vision, but i'm not quite sure that it came out as intended.. and if it didn't... well, i'm not sure whether the shot's any good.. does that make sense? i did raise the contrast a bit, but didn't want to photoshop the blur that i was going for... i know, tmi... apologies..

my question is... did it work??

oh.. and.. there are actually two keys in the shot.. .. overexplaining is NOT helping... stop typing...

hey.. it's thursdayeve... better known as humpday... a.k.a. wednesday!! i'm having a working lunch with people i love to work with and then dinner with a group from my office... oh, and i'm taking breakfast "snacks" to the ever dedicated high school math summer school teachers!!! i'm NOT observing my diet today...
